What is 9000 Dimensions?

9000 Dimensions is a newsletter about the future of entertainment and technology. I write about entertainment, creators, platforms, and the strange incentives shaping what gets made and what people pay attention to.

Who am I?

I’m Xander Seren. I’ve spent the past 15 years working across mediums. I ran a music venue, started a couple record labels, freelanced making apps and websites, led teams building large-scale art installations, consulted for foreign governments on art and technology, created VR experiences, founded a metaverse startup, and released a game on Steam. I’m currently a senior software engineer at the game analytics firm GameDiscoverCo.

Why 9000 Dimensions?

The name 9000 Dimensions comes from Over 9000, the Dragon Ball Z-inspired meme from the mid-2000s. It’s a nod to the idea that the future won’t fit neatly into three dimensions.
